The Bellini cocktail is named after the Venetian Renaissance painter Giovanni Bellini. The cocktail was invented in the 1940s by Giuseppe Cipriani, the founder of Harry's Bar in Venice.

Cipriani reportedly chose the name because the pinkish color of the drink reminded him of the hues in one of Bellini's paintings, particularly the soft, pinkish tones that were a hallmark of Bellini's style. The cocktail, made from Prosecco and puréed white peaches, became a popular choice at Harry's Bar and has since become a classic in the world of cocktails.

“In art, the harmony of color and light can reveal the divine.”
